Martha Hincapíe Charry studied Dance in her homecountry Colombia and finished her studies in Dancetheatre and SoloDance at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, Germany, under the guidance ofPina Bausch, with teachers such as Lutz Förster, Dominique Mercy and Malou Airaudo.

As a dancer she worked for the Wuppertal Dance Theatre, the Münster State Theatre, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, and the Aachen Theatre and performed in variousindependent productions, with artist like Stefan Brinkmann, Leandro Kees, Octavio Zeivy, Ben J. Riepe, Daniel Klumpp, Thomas Fiedler and Anton Berman, among others. Her own creations have been invited to Festivals in France, Croatia, Italy, Holland, Germany,

Ecuador, Brasil and Colombia. She has been awarded with several prizes and scholarships. Martha founded in 2007 the Colombian - German group PERIFERIC.

Her piece “Autorretrato con Máscara – Self-Portrait with Mask'' was realized with the support of the Spanish Foundation IBERESCENA, obtained the Prize of the Audience atthe Festival 100° in Berlin, Sophiensaele 2009 and was selected as one of the 4 best pieces of the season 2009 of the theatre R101 in Bogotá. "Autorretrato..." was nominated for the National Dance Prize 2010 of the Colombian Ministry of Culture.

In 2013 choreographed the theater piece "Angst" directed by Volker Lösch at Stadttheater Basel in Switzerland, and got the Tanzstipendium of the Berliner Senat."Transparente" her first full length film celebrated premiere at the American Dance Festival / International Screendance Festival and toured in Europe and South America.

She created “Backwards 7” a solo performance for the Berliner art gallery Musterzimmer. In 2014 Martha was invited to develop “Doble-Faz” the graduation piece for the 5th yearcontemporary dance students of ASAB - Universidad Distrital in Bogotá, supported by the Goethe Institut Colombia. In Berlin she performed at ADA studio together with

Gabriel Galindez Cruz. 2014/15 worked as body trainer for the piece “Human Requiem” by Jochen Sandig together with the Rundfunkchoir. 2015 she danced “Rameau –TheSound of Light” by Teodor Currentzis und Jochen Sandig at Radial System Berlin.

She is curator of the Dance Biennale 2015 in Cali, Colombia. Since 2011 she´s artistic director of Plataforma/SurReal Berlin, Iberoamerican Festival for Dance, Performance,Installation and Screendance. Martha speaks Spanish, English, Italian and German.
