Dancer, Choreographer and Dance Pedagogue

Norbert Steinwarz, born in Germany, studied dance and choreography at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen where he got his degree in 1991.

From 1991 until May 2001 he was a member of the dance theater led by Joachim Schlömer where he had performances at the Ulmer Theater, the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar and the Theater Basel. Between 1999 and 2004 he successfully completed the study of dance pedagogy at the Folkwang Hochschule. Since April 2001 he works with the choreographer Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin.

In addition to his work as a dancer, Norbert Steinwarz also does a lot of choreographical work in the field of drama and musical theater. Among others he choreographed "Salome" by Oskar Wilde at  Deutsches Theater Berlin, "Penthesilea" by H.v. Kleist at the Thalia Theater Hamburg an at the Salzburger Festspielen, "Gefährliche Liebschaften" by H. Müller/C. Hampton at the Ruhr-Triennale, "Hochzeit" by E. Canetti at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus aswell as "Hary Janos Suite" and "Pulcinella Suite" with the Akademisches Orchester Zürich at the Tonhalle Zürich.

Norbert Steinwarz holds guest performances with his own pieces in Germany as well as abroad.

Mohan C. Thomas and Norbert Steinwarz are cooperating for a long time. Steinwarz`s legendary piece „Kaschemme“ is part of repertoire of the TANZMOTO DANCE COMPANY since 2008.
